Opening Weekend 2014

We’re just a few days away from our opening weekend. We have the final on our movies for the first two nights. Screen 1 will be Captain American: The Winter Soldier, rated PG-13, with co-hit Frozen, rated PG. Screen 2 will be The Lego Movie, rated PG with co-hit, Mr. Peabody and Sherman, rated PG.

Originally we thought Muppets Most Wanted was our feature on screen 2, but they wanted to play with Captain America and we chose Frozen over the Muppets. Even though it’s a much older movie we felt it had more draw than the Muppets and it’s only for one week as the co-hit with Captain America will likely change to Need for Speed on April 11 & 12.

It’s still cold here so it’s hard to imagine that it’s drive-in season already! We’re ready to go with our delicious and hot white bean chicken chili that was so popular last year when we opened up. We’ll also have our shredded pork burritos to keep you warm.

See you at the movies!

It sounds like you play two movies back-to-back on one screen. Is my understanding correct? And both are covered for the same admission price?

Zapporah, no we don’t but we are working on other solutions for our broadcasting besides radio frequency. We’ll keep you posted on the blog and Facebook.

Barb, we won’t know for sure, but I’m hoping it will be the co-hit with RIO 2 which starts on Friday. We will know Monday and I’ll post it in the blog and on Facebook and Twitter.

Will you show frozen before captain America? Or the other way around?

Captain America is first as it is the new movie and while it seems kind of weird with the animated movie being second, we have to play them as the film companies tell us to.

Are you only open on Friday and Saturdays? For some reason, I thought you were open every night?

Gina, we’re open Friday and Saturday nights only through the month of April. In years past we did open weeknights, but we just don’t have enough business to justify the expense of running the digital projectors. We’ll add weeknights in late May and Sunday nights in early May.

Movies always start at dark. Each week through June that is a little bit later. Last weekend we started at 8 pm. This coming weekend, April 18th and 19th will likely be 8:10-8:15
