Winding Down for the Season

As I looked at the calendar today I realized September 3rd is only six weeks away. Six weeks left! Where did the summer go?  2012 will live long in our memories, it’s been a rough summer for Colorado.

The Twin will have a couple of new movies in August, Total Recall and Bourne Legacy.  We plan to bring back Brave at some point in August, as well.  IF we can work in Expendables 2, we will.  This time of year we are juggling the strength of each picture with the audience we can draw at the Twin.  With kids starting back to school and college students returning it changes the dynamics of our patrons and we try to find a good balance for all with the product that is available.  As is seasons past, we will close on the week days once school is in session.

The line-up for Friday, July 27th through Thursday, August 2nd will be: Screen 1 – The Dark Knight Rises with co-hit Dark Shadows, Screen 2 – Ice Age: Continental Drift with co-hit The Amazing Spider Man.

We’re excited to welcome Sisters on the Fly on Friday, August 3rd and I’ll be posting more information about that fun event next week.

See you at the movies!

In years past we have played movies weekends only in September. The past two years we have closed in September, as we will this year. We will be under construction for the digital conversion this fall.

Would you please explain more about your digital conversion?

Digital conversion is being imposed on all theaters, indoor or outdoor, as the end of 35 mm film is fast approaching. The Holiday Twin currently uses old carbon arc projectors that have been converted, to play 35 mm film for our presentations. As film companies transition to digital projection, films on disk or downloaded over the internet, we will be unable to play new release movies. Therefore, we will take the plunge and purchase the digital projectors and begin the conversion process this Fall.

There hasn’t been a “drop dead date” given as far as I know. 2013 seems to be the most talked about time frame, and each film company has there own timing as to when they wills top production 35 mm film.

We will are not planning on a price increase next year. We’ve been planning on this digital conversion for over 2 years now and have been saving to pay for the cost of the projectors and the remodeling involved.

No Aaron, 3D requires a silver screen. While some drive-ins have 3D, the expense of maintaining the screen at an outdoor venue is huge. We still have 2D, but the picture will be 100% better!
